in which we finish day 2 of siding

In order to buy our house, a few things needed to be done.  Siding was a HUGE issue that needed to be fixed.  So this is what it looks like after day two.  We have a friend, who is a licensed contractor working with us.  The house already looks so much better in this little section that has been done.  And it will be a much different color than the material being installed.  This one, to be specific.

It's that time of year again.  Buddy is getting his pinewood derby car ready.  I'm so grateful Dad is willing to help out and that we have tools to work with.

 

in which they hunt for eggs

First off, I LOVE having a yard.  It was really nice that Dad had mowed it this morning.  The kids went out for a special treat with Dad and I stayed home to hide eggs.  That was fun.  The kids probably had more fun finding them.  They each had two colors to find, this way it was fair for all since I hid the exact same number of each of the colors.  Next year I'm hiding twice as many eggs because I had so much fun watching the kids find them.

Some years I completely forget to do fun things with the kids around different holidays.  This year we had time on vacation and decided to do something fun.  We colored eggs to get into the springy feeling.  Easter is coming up, so it seemed perfect timing.  Even better was that Grandma Hill was here to join us.  The kids had fun.  Next year we might do more.

 

 

 

in which Sunshine is the birthday girl

Here she is, in all her 7 year old glory!  We love our Sunshine and are so happy she is a member of our family.  She brightens our days, makes us laugh and is fun to be around.

 

She was very specific in what she wanted her cake to be.  It had to have sparkly candles that relight and a number 7.  There had to be a tiara made out of sprinkles and purple.  To top it off, there had to be the word princess in cursive in purple.  I think I did the best I could.  She loved it!

in which he gets all A's

Dad and I received a letter from the principal early last week.  I opened the letter with hesitation, thinking Buddy was in trouble at school.  Nope.  Buddy earned the honor of being "Student of the Month" and was the only kid in his class to get straight A's.  He is doing so well in school and his teacher said so many nice things about him and how he goes above and beyond to learn.  We are proud of him.  (there was no assembly of awards for the lower grades, but Sunshine got good grades as well)

Turtle got in trouble for spitting on the bathroom mirror.  His punishment was to clean the mirror by himself.  Buddy volunteered to help teach Turtle.  It was fun to watch them work together.

 

in which there were green eggs

Buddy and Sunshine got to have green eggs and ham at school today in order to help celebrate Dr. Seuss.  Turtle was jealous, so I made him some as well.  Although I cheated a little.  That's bacon, not ham.
