in which we heard a 'prophet' speak

Dad has a very big calling.  He is part of the Stake Young Men Presidency.  The Stake organized a Book of Mormon Quest this year for all the youth and Dad was assigned a day to plan.  He planned about Limhi, King Benjamin, and the 24 plates that were found.  The youth went on a hike and on a 'scavenger hunt' type thing.  It was awesome how everyone worked together.
This is our Stake President giving a modern version of the speech that King Benjamin gave.  He gave a great talk and all the youth seemed riveted.
Before we left for the day, we climbed on the tower as well.  I wish we could have stayed all week, but the one day was pretty fun.

in which my oldest is now a decade old

Buddy turned 10 today.  He wanted a blue angel food cake.  The frosting had half a bottle of food coloring in it and the color stayed so light! It tasted great though.  We had a small family party for him.  He got to open his presents.  It was a good day.

in which we ate stars and stripes

Time for our annual red, white and blueberry kabobs.  I love traditions, well most traditions.  The whole family was excited for this one.  We had so much fun making them this year.

in which we find a visitor in our garden

We were out watering the garden and picking sugar snap peas, when I spotted this little critter next to our lettuce. It's a Pacific Tree Frog and totally harmless.  The kids thought it was fun to see a frog so up close though.  Normally we just hear them.  Oh, and the peas were tasty.
