night at the firehouse

Every year the firemen have an open house during Fire Prevention Week.  We had an extra hour to attend this year.  The kids were excited to see this giant blow up slide and a obstacle course.  We had dinner there as well.  And to finish off the night, we got to ride on an antique fire truck.  It was so much fun!

general conference weekend

I love that Sunshine makes countdowns for just about everything.  We were fortunate enough to watch General Conference this weekend and listen to a prophet speak to us.  There were some amazing talks.  If you haven't heard them yet, take time and watch or read here.  Turtle cracked me up as we were singing one of the hymns.  He stood on a chair and tried to lead the music along with the conductor.  Adorable!  We also had our traditional cinnamon rolls, for which 7 missionaries showed up to help eat them.  And we had lunch for them as well.  They were happy.  And so were we.

just a little holiday at the lake

We got invited to spend the day with a few friends up at the lake for Labor day.  Dad chose to stay home and get ready for the first day of school.  The kids had a blast! Buddy kayaked for the first time and caught on so fast.  He gave rides to anyone who wanted one.  Turtle loved swimming in the water.  Sunshine was busy playing with friends as they used water squirters for a little battle and she also built sandcastles.  We had lunch and then the kids really got to enjoy themselves inner tubing. I got pictures of the boys, but Sunshine did her time way out on the lake and I didn't get to see her.  I was surprised to see Turtle come in all by himself.  He can be hesitant to try new things at times.  We had a lot of fun and I am the only one that got sunburned.

natural history museum

We love museums.  So that was why we were so excited to go a museum that Dad and I hadn't gone to since we were little.  There was a special display on Mammoths at the time.  They were really big!

summer fun at JJ and DAH's house

We tried to split our time evenly between families this summer, especially since there were lots of people around that we don't normally get to see. Buddy got a motorcycle ride and he was so excited! The kids built lots of forts with their uncles and watched lots of cartoons.   We also had super yummy carne asada burritos and smores with my Uncle Sam and his new wife, Charlotte.

summer fun at Grandma's house

It was so nice to spend some time with family this summer.  Our kids met their cousins for the first time! Buddy was one when he met his oldest cousin and they all met one other cousin when he was 6 months old.  So this was really the first time they had interacted with each other.  It was also really nice for a brand new baby cousin to be born right after we arrived! There are so many times when I wish that family didn't live so far away.  Thanks for letting us stay with you Grandma Hill!
