After our hike and exploration of the Quest site, we had to go to the Scout store to pick up a few things. A couple of blocks away was a kids science museum we could go to for free with our ASTC cards. We decided to take advantage of it, even if it was only for 40 minutes before closing time. The kids had fun. It was a very small museum, but everything was hands on, which is important for learning.

in which we checked out the site
Dad needed to see what the campground looked like for the summer Quest that he is helping to plan for the Youth. So we drove a couple of hours until we reached a little place in the middle of nowhere that is absolutely beautiful. We also took a two mile hike, which took us an hour and forty-five minutes to complete. It was a nice trip.

in which they swam for miles
The swim-a-thon. Wherein the kids swim for 90 minutes straight, if they so choose, to see how many laps they can do. Last year Buddy swam 138 laps, two laps short of a two miles. This year he swam 164 laps and Sunshine swam 77 laps. They both did terrific and were rewarded with ice cream afterwards. Thank you to those who were able to help support them this year.

in which we get patios
Patios. They are important, you know. And where we used to only have one, which I stuck my foot through twice before it was removed, now we have two. I woke up early and found this in my driveway. For some reason, I thought our repair guy was going to mix the concrete by hand. Nope. We got this big huge truck in our driveway and we had two teenage boys running wheelbarrows full of concrete all over the place. Our lawn is a mess, but we now have two patios. And that makes us happy.

in which he is no longer a bear
Buddy finally earned his Bear rank in Cub Scouts! He also earned his religious knot, a golden arrow, four silver arrows, some belt loops and pins. He was so excited, but he was even more excited to become a Webelo.

in which it was the last week of school
The kids only had two days of school this week. They each had a field trip doing something fun. Sunshine went swimming.
I snuck into Sunshine's classroom to snap a picture of her (and if you look closely, you can see Turtle snuck all the way in there to visit before the bell rang).
Buddy went bowling. I snapped this picture right before the ball hit the pins for a spare.
Buddy received the all A Honor Roll for the third trimester in a row.

in which it was crazy hair day at school
Sunshine wanted her hair done for crazy hair day. I had seen this done by a friend for her kids awhile back and thought Sunshine might have enough hair to pull it off. She did and she was so excited! I'm sure her hair was the most unique.

in which something unexpected made us work more
We got new gutters. Finally. I am so happy about that! This means that whenever it rains, whomever is standing at our front door won't be getting a shower. Dad and I went to hook up the new gutters to the drainpipes and found that when had a clog. So we tried to blast the clog out. Nothing happened. So we tried to dig the clog out. Nothing happened. So we started cutting out sections of the pipe little by little. Twenty-two feet later we found the end of the clog. I ran to the store before it closed and bought new piping and parts and Dad and I finished fixing the pipes and buried them. We had something else in mind to do, but that's okay. This was something that had to be done as well. I'm just so grateful that we didn't have a clog that ran to the street!
